The big news from yesterday in Major League Baseball and that is the trade between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels. The Diamondbacks, who are in last place in the NL West, traded starting pitcher Dan Haren to the Angels for Joe Saunders, Rafael Rodriguez and Patrick Corbin.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to our 9th episode of the season. In this episode a manager says he plans to retire at the end of the season, while a ton of suspensions were handed out by Major League Baseball. We made a mistake in the episode saying the the Injury Report would be posted along with this episode, but that won’t be the case as we are publishing this episode tonight! So look out during the day tomorrow as we will hopefully have all the injury’s in a blog post format for you, our listeners.
Check out an above look of Zack Greinke’s release during warm-up in Wednesday’s MLB action. The Royals finished off a three game set with the Blue Jays, defeating them 5-2. Greinke got the win in the game and pushed his record to 6-9 on the year. This was Greinke’s fifth win in his last seven decisions.
A lot of people may not have thought of Ilya Kovalchuk’s present situation to be anything like the Mats Sundin situation from a couple years ago, but I’m not like most people. The one word that links Kovalchuk and Sundin together? Saga.
Check out the link below and you will find Detroit Tigers third baseman Brandon Inge being hit with a pitch. That pitch broke a bone in Inge’s left hand and that means he will miss a minimum of 4 weeks. A big blow for the Tigers.
In this week’s edition of The Hot Corner podcast, we talk mostly about the All-Star game that was just last week. Also featured in the episode is the death of Yankees legend and Owner of the team since 1973, “The Boss” George Steinbrenner. Rest in Peace George. Did I mention the Blue Jays made a trade this week? They swapped shortstops with the Atlanta Braves, but you will have to listen to the episode to find out more about that trade. The trade seems to be working out so far for the Jays as you see in the video below (I will send you a link for the video). Congrads to Yunel for the Jays first grand slam of the season.
I know this may be a little late, but here are my thoughts after watching the 2010 All-Star Game in Anaheim:
The National League can breathe a sigh of relief. Their drought of not posting a win at the Mid Summer Classic is over with their 3-1 win over the American League on Tuesday night. That win ended a 13 game losing streak for the National League against the American League, the last win was posted in 1996.
The dog days of summer days are finally upon us: school is finally out, the beautiful beach weather is here, and the boys of summer are in full swing. The first half of the 2010 MLB season has brought us many great storylines including perfect games, no-hitters, some surprising teams, and the emergence of some great players. With the All-Star game marking the mid-way point of this 2010 MLB season, we take a look back at the first half of the season and evaluate each team to this point. In this second part of this three part series, we evaluate each team in the National League.
